Aprilia Tuono 660
Description
The Aprilia RS 660 and Tuono 660 made their global debut in late 2020, marking a significant shift in Aprilia’s product lineup. Soon after, both models were confirmed for the Indian market. Developed entirely from scratch, these middleweight machines represent a new era for the iconic Italian manufacturer.
At the heart of both bikes lies a 659 cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine featuring a 270-degree crank firing order. This powerplant is derived from the front two cylinders of the RSV4 1100’s V4 motor. On the RS 660, the engine is tuned to produce 99 bhp at 10,500 rpm and 67 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. The Tuono 660, designed with a slightly more relaxed character, delivers 95 bhp at the same rpm and an identical torque figure of 67 Nm. Both versions come mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Suspension duties are handled by 41 mm USD forks from Kayaba up front, complemented by a monoshock at the rear mounted asymmetrically for better balance and response. Braking is sharp and confident, thanks to dual 320 mm discs at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear.
Fuel capacity stands at 15 litres for both models, and the kerb weight is a manageable 183 kg. Both the RS 660 and Tuono 660 ride on lightweight cast aluminium wheels, wrapped in high-performance Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres, ensuring excellent grip and agility on the road.
