The 1290 Super Adventure S is KTM’s flagship adventure touring model for India, despite the bigger 1390 version existing in the international markets since late 2024. Powering the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is a 1301cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that makes 158bhp and 138Nm and is linked to a six-speed gearbox. It gets a bi-directional quickshifter, slipper clutch, and a truckload of electronic rider aids. The list comprises four ride modes (Rain, Sport, Street, and Off-road), traction control, ABS modes including off-road ABS, cruise control, seven-inch TFT, smartphone connectivity, and radar-based cruise control. All of these features are wrapped in a gigantic-looking package that lends it a massive road presence.

It is underpinned by a trellis frame that is suspended by a 48mm WP semi-active USD fork and semi-active shock absorber. It rides on a 19-17-inch alloy wheel combination with Mitas Terra Force R tyres. Braking duties are carried out by two 320mm diameter discs at the front, clamped by radially mounted four-piston callipers while the rear wheel is slowed down by a 267mm rotor. Lastly, with a 23-litre fuel tank, the KTM 1290 Adventure S certainly has one of the largest fuel tanks on motorcycles in the country.
