Description
At Kia EV Day 2025, the brand unveiled the Concept EV2, offering a preview of its future entry-level electric SUV. This compact SUV concept represents Kia’s vision for a B-segment electric vehicle, slated for a European launch in 2026. Once introduced, the EV2 will be the smallest model in Kia’s global EV lineup, positioned below the EV3.
Exterior Design
The Concept EV2 shares Kia’s latest design language seen on the EV5 and EV9, featuring a bold and upright stance. The front sports a split headlamp setup with vertically aligned LED DRLs, a sealed-off ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, and a muscular bumper highlighted by extensive cladding. This rugged cladding continues along the sides, emphasizing the wheel arches and lower door panels. Strong creases on the front arches and rear haunch add to its boxy, utilitarian appeal.
At the rear, the concept features low-mounted L-shaped taillamps, a cladded bumper, and a large tailgate with a curved rear glass. Additional highlights include a roof-mounted spoiler and a panoramic glass roof. Overall, the design appears close to production-ready, in line with Kia’s trend of transitioning concept models into production with minimal styling changes.
Interior and Cabin Concept
Inside, the Concept EV2 leans more into its concept roots. It adopts a pillarless layout, with rear doors hinged at the C-pillar for easy access. The front seat features a one-piece base with individually adjustable backrests and can slide all the way to the rear seatbacks, allowing for a spacious lounge-like configuration. The rear seat base folds upwards, further increasing cabin flexibility.
The dashboard is minimal, equipped with a wide screen that integrates both the infotainment and instrument cluster. A thick patterned trim runs along the lower part of the dash. In place of a traditional centre console, Kia opts for a flat, open walkthrough design. Unique interior elements include triangular ambient lighting on the dash, detachable speakers on the front doors, and an interactive message lighting system that can display messages on the windows for communication with other drivers.
Technology and Features
The Concept EV2 incorporates several advanced technologies. It supports vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities, allowing it to charge other EVs or power external devices. It also features connected car tech with support for over-the-air (OTA) updates, keeping software and systems up to date.
Overall, the Kia Concept EV2 provides a strong glimpse into what could become a production-ready, entry-level electric SUV for urban and young buyers, combining practical innovation with bold, modern styling.
