Kawasaki Vulcan S
Description
India Kawasaki Motor has introduced the BS6-compliant Vulcan S at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 6.16 lakh (Delhi), marking a Rs. 30,000 hike over the previous BS4 version. While the core mechanicals remain largely unchanged, the updated model comes with a fresh paint scheme — Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray, replacing the earlier colours. Bookings for the cruiser are already underway.
Powering the new Vulcan S is the same 649cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, now upgraded to meet BS6 emission standards. It delivers 60 bhp at 7,500 rpm, and torque is slightly reduced to 62.4 Nm at 6,600 rpm from the earlier 63 Nm. The engine continues to be paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Despite the engine update, the weight (235 kg) and fuel tank capacity (14 litres) remain unchanged. The low seat height of 705 mm ensures accessibility for a wide range of riders.
A standout feature is Kawasaki’s Ergo-Fit system, which allows riders to customize the handlebar and footpeg positions for optimal comfort. Additionally, optional seat configurations are available to further enhance rider ergonomics.
On the suspension front, the Vulcan S continues with its 41 mm telescopic forks offering 130 mm of travel at the front, and a rear offset monoshock with 80 mm of travel. Braking duties are handled by a 300 mm front disc with dual-piston calipers, and a 250 mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper.
With its updated engine, adjustable ergonomics, and cruiser styling, the 2022 Vulcan S continues to be a unique offering in the middleweight cruiser segment.
