Kawasaki Z650RS

India Kawasaki Motors has introduced the much-anticipated 2022 Z650RS in the Indian market, priced at ₹6.68 lakh (ex-showroom). Arriving shortly after its global premiere, this neo-retro middleweight motorcycle combines modern performance with a nostalgic design. It will be available in two striking color options: Candy Emerald Green and Metallic Moondust Gray.

Based on the popular Kawasaki Z650, the Z650RS adopts a retro-inspired design language reminiscent of the iconic Kawasaki Z1 and takes cues from its larger sibling, the Z900RS. Positioned as a more affordable alternative to rivals like the Triumph Trident 660, the Z650RS offers an attractive value proposition for enthusiasts seeking classic aesthetics with modern reliability.

Design highlights include a round LED headlamp, multi-spoke alloy wheels, and a twin-pod analogue instrument cluster with a digital inset. The pinstriped fuel tank and flat single-piece seat complete the vintage look, ensuring both visual appeal and rider comfort.

Underneath the retro bodywork lies the proven 649 cc parallel-twin engine, shared with the Z650. It produces 67 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 6,700 rpm, offering strong mid-range performance. The bike continues to use the trellis frame, 41 mm telescopic front forks, and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by dual 300 mm front discs and a 220 mm rear disc, backed by dual-channel ABS as standard.

The Z650RS commands a premium of around ₹41,000 over the standard Z650, justified by its unique retro styling and distinctive character. Bookings are currently open across 29 Kawasaki dealerships nationwide, with deliveries expected to commence by late November or early December.
