2025 BMW M2
Description
BMW M2 Launched in India at ₹98 Lakh: A New Era of Performance Begins
BMW has officially launched the all-new M2 in India, with prices starting at ₹98 lakh (ex-showroom). Following the success of the first-generation 2 Series—which saw over 60,000 units sold globally—the new M2 brings performance to the forefront, proudly wearing the most revered badge in BMW’s lineup: “M”. What makes this model especially notable is that it marks BMW’s first manual transmission offering in the Indian market.
Design That Screams Performance
The 2025 BMW M2 has been sculpted with a sharp focus on performance-oriented aesthetics. It features a frameless kidney grille with horizontal slats, contributing to its bold, aggressive front fascia. The muscular flared wheel arches and side skirts draw inspiration from racing cars, enhancing the car’s sporty stance.
Among the optional extras are the M Shadow Line headlights and stylish 19-inch front / 20-inch rear alloys in Jet Black (Style 930 M). Standard blue M Sport brake callipers can be optionally upgraded to a red finish. For those looking to optimise performance further, the M Carbon Roof is available—it lowers the vehicle’s centre of gravity, thereby improving handling and aerodynamics.
Cabin Tech and Comfort
Inside, the M2 boasts BMW’s curved display setup, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen. Standard M Sport seats offer electric adjustment, while the 40:20:40 split rear bench adds practicality. The M2 also provides a generous 390 litres of boot space with the rear seats up.
Performance hardware includes adaptive M suspension, an M Sport differential, and M high-performance compound brakes—all tuned specifically for precision driving dynamics.
Powertrain: The True M Spirit
At its core, the M2 houses a newly developed M TwinPower Turbo inline-six petrol engine. This straight-six unit delivers 446 bhp and 550 Nm of peak torque. With the automatic transmission, 0–100 km/h comes in just 4.1 seconds; the manual takes 4.3 seconds. Interestingly, the manual version is priced ₹1 lakh higher than the automatic—a rare but exciting move for purists.
With the optional M Driver’s Package, top speed increases from the electronically limited 250 km/h to 285 km/h. The standard 8-speed M Steptronic transmission allows for responsive gear shifts and offers multiple drive modes including Comfort, Sport, and Track. Engine responsiveness can also be customised via Efficient, Sport, and Sport Plus modes.
Technology and Connectivity
Equipped with BMW’s Operating System 8 and the latest iDrive, the M2 offers intuitive control via touch, gestures, or voice. The My BMW app provides real-time vehicle updates, intelligent navigation, traffic data, and even turns your smartphone into a digital key for access and parking functions.
Safety and Driver Assistance
On the safety front, the M2 comes standard with 6 airbags. It also features a comprehensive electronic safety suite, including Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), ABS, Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dry Braking, M Dynamic Mode (MDM), and the Active M Differential.
