BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe
Description
BMW has launched the first-ever 2 Series Gran Coupe in India, marking the entry point into its sedan lineup. While the compact BMW X1 SUV starts at a lower price, the 2 Series now stands as the most affordable sedan from the brand in India. It is available with both petrol and diesel engine options.
Customers can choose from seven exterior colours, though shades like Storm Bay (grey), Snapper Rocks Blue (aqua/teal), and Misano Blue are exclusive to the sportier M Sport trim. Built on BMW’s UKL front-wheel-drive modular architecture—shared with the X1 and MINI Countryman—the 2 Series in Europe does offer xDrive all-wheel-drive variants, but the Indian market will receive only the front-wheel-drive version.
Design-wise, the 2 Series Gran Coupe carries BMW’s bold styling with the signature kidney grille upfront. Sleek, raked-back LED headlamps with dual-barrel detailing and a flowing coupe-style roofline that tapers into a fastback-inspired rear give the car a dynamic silhouette. The L-shaped LED tail lights and frameless windows further enhance its sporty appeal.
In terms of safety, the car comes fully loaded with features standard across all variants. This includes six airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, 3-point seatbelts for all five passengers, ABS, stability and traction control, run-flat tyres, and tyre pressure monitoring.
Under the hood of the 220d variant lies a 2.0-litre diesel engine delivering 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The car sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds, aided by an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission for a smooth and responsive driving experience.
