BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo
Description
BMW India introduced the facelifted 6 Series Gran Turismo (6 GT) in April 2021. The refreshed lineup is offered in two main variants: the 630i M Sport and the 620d M Sport, priced at ₹69.9 lakh and ₹79.9 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, India). Combining coupe-inspired aesthetics with the functionality of a sedan, the 6 GT also offers a longer body than the 5 Series, resulting in enhanced cabin space and comfort. In the Indian market, it primarily rivals the Audi S5 Sportback.
Design-wise, the updated 6 Series GT is available in two trims—Luxury Line and M Sport. Key exterior revisions include a wider kidney grille, redesigned headlamps, sportier bumpers, and new LED taillights while retaining the signature notch-back silhouette. New alloy wheel designs and subtle styling tweaks round out the visual upgrades. LED adaptive headlights are standard, with BMW Laserlight headlamps offered as an option. A large two-piece panoramic sunroof is also part of the package.
Inside, the 2021 model brings a host of tech and luxury upgrades. The dashboard now features a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additional features include a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, a 360-degree surround camera, 4-zone automatic climate control, and electrically adjustable rear seats. The M Sport variants come equipped with BMW Laserlight and added equipment like an adaptive rear spoiler, air suspension with self-leveling, and multiple drive modes.
Interior trims differ by variant: the 630i and 620d feature Natural Leather Dakota upholstery with fine wood inserts, while the higher-end 630d variant is offered with premium Nappa leather and diamond-stitch detailing.
Under the hood, the updated 6 GT offers three powertrain options—two diesel engines and one petrol. The 2.0-litre petrol unit generates 255 bhp at 5,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 1,550 and 4,400 rpm. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h. All engine options are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
