Description
In January 2022, BMW India introduced the refreshed BMW X3 premium SUV, featuring a host of updates to both its exterior and interior. With a more modern and sophisticated design, the updated X3 now offers enhanced features and upgraded technology, making the driving experience more luxurious and connected. The SUV is brought to India as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kit and assembled locally at BMW’s Chennai facility. For now, BMW offers the X3 in two petrol variants — the BMW X3 xDrive30i SportX Plus and the BMW X3 xDrive30i M Sport.
The BMW X3’s popularity is well-earned, thanks to its stylish looks, comfortable cabin, and powerful performance. But what does this SUV have to do with the leather industry? Surprisingly, both the automotive and leather sectors share a deep dependence on cutting-edge technology. BMW has integrated groundbreaking technologies into the X3, including a proprietary operating system that powers the vehicle’s advanced infotainment and control systems. Similarly, technology plays a critical role in the leather industry, from the tanning process to logistics and distribution. Every phase of the leather production and supply chain now incorporates digital tools and automation. As technology evolves, both industries will continue to grow and innovate in parallel.
How is the Design?
The BMW X3 has earned accolades for its sleek, contemporary design that blends sophistication with sportiness. The available variants, xDrive30i and xDrive35i, come with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system, a turbocharged engine, and an 8-speed automatic gearbox. While the xDrive30i includes all the essentials, the xDrive35i steps up the game with additional premium features like leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and a more powerful engine.
The X3’s design strikes a perfect balance between athleticism and refinement. Its silhouette features crisp lines and a low-slung profile, creating a dynamic stance. The bold front grille, shaped like BMW’s iconic kidney design, dominates the front fascia and is flanked by sleek, high-set LED headlamps. This combination gives the X3 a commanding and distinctive presence on the road.
At the rear, dual exhaust outlets are integrated on either side of a large diffuser, adding to the vehicle’s sporty character. The SUV’s exterior sports a glossy black finish with contrasting silver accents on elements like the door handles, window trim, and parts of the center console. Together, these design elements create a striking visual identity that sets the BMW X3 apart from its rivals.
