Description
BMW has officially introduced its most powerful production car in India – the BMW XM, priced at ₹2.60 crore (ex-showroom). Initially unveiled as a concept in late 2021, the XM is only the second bespoke model by BMW’s M division, after the iconic M1.
The XM combines a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with an electric motor integrated into the transmission. This M Hybrid Drive system delivers a staggering 644 bhp and 800 Nm of torque, propelling the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, with an electronically capped top speed of 250 km/h.
Despite its performance pedigree, the XM also supports all-electric driving, courtesy of a 25.7 kWh battery, offering a claimed electric-only range of up to 88 km.
It features advanced underpinnings like a double-wishbone front and 5-link rear suspension, adaptive M dampers, 48V active roll stabilization, and integral active steering – a first for any M model.
Design-wise, the XM remains close to the original concept. It sports a bold kidney grille, split headlamps, gold trim accents, and stacked twin exhausts, with 21-inch alloy wheels as standard and up to 23 inches available optionally.
Inside, the cabin is more conventional compared to the concept, featuring dual-tone brown and blue upholstery, a single-piece curved display, and redesigned air-con vents and center console in line with BMW’s latest interiors. The XM is a 5-seater SUV, sharing its wheelbase with the X7, but is wider and shorter in height.
