Kawasaki Versys 650

The 2021 Kawasaki Versys 650 BS6 retains its signature versatility and touring comfort, while now complying with the latest emission norms. It continues to be powered by a 649 cc parallel-twin engine, which now delivers 65 bhp at 8500 rpm and 61 Nm of torque at 7000 rpm—slightly lower figures compared to the outgoing BS4 version that produced 68 bhp and 64 Nm. Despite the minor drop, the engine still prioritizes a strong and usable mid-range performance, ideal for long rides and twisty roads. The 6-speed gearbox has been carried over unchanged.

Mechanically, most components remain familiar. It still features a 21-litre fuel tank for long-distance touring, along with 41 mm upside-down front forks offering 150 mm of travel, and a rear offset monoshock with 145 mm of travel. Both suspension units are fully adjustable, ensuring a plush and controlled ride. Braking hardware includes dual 300 mm front petal discs with dual-piston calipers, and a 250 mm rear disc paired with a single-piston caliper. The bike runs on 17-inch alloy wheels, suitable for both urban and highway conditions.

In terms of design and features, the BS6 version sticks closely to its predecessor. There’s no update to the instrument cluster, which remains semi-digital and includes a gear position indicator. Unlike other BS6 Kawasaki models, the Versys 650 does not get a TFT display or Bluetooth smartphone connectivity through the Rideology app.

However, the bike still delivers where it matters for touring riders. It retains the adjustable windscreen, wide handlebar, and an upright, relaxed riding posture. The front fascia houses dual halogen headlamps, continuing the same design theme from before.

In essence, while the 2021 Versys 650 BS6 might lack modern connectivity and display tech, it remains a reliable, capable, and comfortable adventure tourer, ideal for riders who prioritize riding feel and practicality over flashy gadgets.
