Kawasaki W800 Street

India Kawasaki Motor has launched the retro-styled W800 Street in India, priced at ₹7.33 lakh (ex-showroom). The W800 enters the market as a stylish throwback, taking on rivals like the Triumph Street Twin, Triumph Bonneville T100, Harley-Davidson Street Rod, and Indian Scout Sixty.

This motorcycle draws its inspiration from the iconic Kawasaki W1 of 1965, which at 650 cc was the largest displacement Japanese bike of its time. Staying true to its heritage, the W800 features curved body panels, a sculpted fuel tank, a round headlamp with a chrome bezel, circular indicators, and a classic twin-pod instrument console with chrome surrounds. The wide handlebars, centrally positioned foot pegs, and a well-cushioned single-piece seat offer a relaxed and comfortable riding posture.

Adding to its vintage charm are chrome-finished twin exhaust pipes and fork gaiters on the front suspension. The retro theme is completed by traditional spoke wheels. In India, it is offered in a single paint scheme: Metallic Flat Spark Black/Metallic Matte Graphite Grey.

Despite its classic look, the Kawasaki W800 comes equipped with several modern features. It includes a five-way adjustable clutch lever, a four-way adjustable front brake lever, and a small LCD display for additional ride data integrated with the twin-pod dials. Powering the motorcycle is a 773 cc vertical twin-cylinder, fuel-injected engine delivering 62.9 Nm of peak torque at 4,800 rpm. It also benefits from an assist and slipper clutch for smoother gear shifts, and a modern double-cradle chassis for enhanced stability.

Suspension duties are handled by 41 mm telescopic front forks and dual rear shock absorbers with adjustable preload. The braking system features a 320 mm front disc and a 270 mm rear disc, both equipped with two-piston calipers and supported by dual-channel ABS as standard. The 18-inch aluminium spoke wheels are wrapped in 100/90 front and 130/80 rear tyres.
