mahindra XUV 400
Description
Mahindra has officially introduced the highly anticipated XUV400, its all-electric compact SUV, in the Indian market. It is offered in two variants – EC and EL, with prices ranging from ₹15.99 lakh to ₹18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). These introductory prices apply to the first 5,000 bookings for each variant. Mahindra aims to deliver 20,000 units of the XUV400 within its first year. Bookings began on January 26, 2023.
In terms of design, the XUV400 takes inspiration from the smaller XUV300, but includes electric vehicle-specific elements such as a closed-off grille, copper highlights, and the Mahindra twin-peaks logo. The interior layout is also similar to the XUV300, though the XUV400 benefits from a larger boot space and enhanced features.
The SUV is available in five colour choices: Arctic Blue, Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black, and Infinity Blue. Buyers can also opt for dual-tone colour schemes with a Satin Copper roof.
In terms of performance, the EC variant comes with a 34.5 kWh battery offering a range of 375 km, while the EL variant features a 39.4 kWh battery, delivering up to 456 km per charge (as per MIDC standards). Both versions are powered by an electric motor producing 110 kW and 310 Nm of torque. Mahindra claims a 0-100 km/h time of 8.3 seconds and a top speed of 150 km/h. The EC variant is equipped with a 3.3 kW charger, with the option to upgrade to 7.2 kW, whereas the EL variant comes standard with the 7.2 kW charger.
As for features, the EC variant includes all-wheel disc brakes, steel wheels, halogen headlights, connected car technology, manual air-conditioning, and fabric seats. The EL variant adds more premium touches such as 6 airbags, alloy wheels, a rear camera, a 7-inch touchscreen, keyless entry, projector headlamps, leatherette seats, rear wiper/washer, and a height-adjustable driver seat.
Deliveries for the EL variant are set to begin in March, while the EC variant will follow around Diwali. Initially, the XUV400 will be sold in a phased rollout across 34 cities, including major urban centers like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata, among others.
