Mahindra XUV.e8
Description
The Mahindra XUV.e8, the all-electric counterpart to the XUV700, has been spotted testing once again ahead of its expected debut in December 2024. This SUV will be the first to be underpinned by Mahindra’s new INGLO EV platform, with several more models planned to follow from 2025 onwards. A working prototype of the XUV.e8 was first showcased back in August 2022.
Design and Dimensions
The XUV.e8 will carry forward several styling cues from the XUV700 while incorporating distinctive EV-specific elements. Up front, it will feature triangular LED headlamps—as seen on the prototype—and a prominent full-width LED lightbar, enhancing its futuristic look. The rear is expected to resemble the XUV700 in terms of taillamp shape, though updates to the lighting elements and tailgate design are likely for the final production model.
The SUV’s dimensions have been officially confirmed:
-
Length: 4740 mm
-
Width: 1900 mm
-
Height: 1760 mm
-
Wheelbase: 2762 mm
While the test vehicle was fitted with alloy wheels, the final production units are expected to get a different design.
Interior and Features
Though the latest spy shots don’t reveal the interior, previous sightings have shown a three-screen dashboard layout, similar to what’s seen in the XEV 9e. The cabin also includes a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a conventional automatic gear selector, and a rotary dial for drive mode selection. Many features from the XUV700 are expected to carry over, likely including advanced driver-assistance systems and premium infotainment options.
Powertrain
The XUV.e8 is expected to come standard with rear-wheel drive, powered by a Valeo-sourced electric motor mounted on the rear axle. This motor is likely to produce:
-
228 bhp (170 kW)
-
380 Nm of torque
A more powerful variant with up to 345 bhp is also reportedly in development, possibly featuring all-wheel drive.
