Mercedes-AMG GT
Description
Mercedes-AMG unveiled the 2020 AMG GT at the 2018 LA Auto Show, showcasing updated styling, new tech, and performance tweaks. The lineup includes the GT, GT C, GT R, and a new GT R Pro variant. While the 2020 AMG GT remains a two-door sports car, it has evolved to feel more refined than raw, particularly in the striking matte grey paint on display.
Exterior Updates
-
The Panamericana grille remains but with sharper, more angular edges.
-
Headlights are redesigned, borrowing elements from the AMG GT 4-Door.
-
The GT C gets subtle rear tweaks, including a redesigned tailpipe.
Interior and Tech
The cockpit is where most of the changes lie:
-
A new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is now standard.
-
A 10.3-inch infotainment display is controlled via a new touchpad and steering-mounted touch controls.
-
AMG-specific LCD displays and color display buttons on the center console control various performance functions like:
-
Transmission and chassis settings
-
Exhaust tuning
-
Start-stop system
-
DRS (Drag Reduction System)
-
Performance Enhancements
While the engine remains unchanged, performance handling is improved with the AMG Dynamics Stability Control (DSC) system:
-
Basic mode – tuned for comfort and slippery conditions.
-
Advanced – aligns with Sport mode.
-
Pro – for more aggressive Sport+ driving.
-
Master – disables most electronic aids for a pure, track-focused experience.
Powertrain
All variants still house the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8:
-
GT (Coupe & Roadster) – 462 bhp
-
GT C (Coupe & Roadster) – 542 bhp
-
GT R / GT R Pro – 570 bhp
Despite being a mid-cycle refresh, the 2020 AMG GT offers a more refined driving experience, updated cabin tech, and sharper design — and yes, it’s confirmed to arrive in India.
