All-New Mercedes-Benz CLA Set to Debut on March 13
Mercedes-Benz is gearing up to unveil the all-new CLA on March 13, more than a year after previewing its design through the CLA Concept at the 2023 Munich Auto Show. The upcoming model is built on Mercedes’ next-generation MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture) platform and will be available with both all-electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) options. The new CLA is also confirmed to replace the A-Class sedan as Mercedes-Benz’s entry-level luxury sedan offering.
Design Highlights
The production-spec CLA stays largely true to the concept car, retaining key stylistic elements such as:
-
A sleek, coupe-like silhouette
-
Signature wavy LED headlamps integrated with the iconic three-pointed star lighting pattern
-
Distinctive wraparound LED taillamps, likely carried over from the concept
These elements collectively contribute to a futuristic yet unmistakably Mercedes-Benz design.
Interior & Technology
Inside, the new CLA will become the first Mercedes model to debut the brand’s proprietary Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS). This next-generation infotainment and vehicle control system boasts:
-
A high-performance onboard supercomputer
-
An AI-driven virtual assistant
-
A deeply integrated digital ecosystem
The new tech stack enables Level 2++ Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) compatibility, although availability will vary depending on regional regulations.
Electric Powertrain Options
The CLA EV will feature a rear-wheel-drive layout as standard, powered by a primary electric motor delivering up to 268 bhp. This motor is mated to an innovative two-speed transmission designed to enhance both performance and efficiency.
An optional 4MATIC all-wheel-drive setup will include a secondary front-mounted motor producing an additional 107 bhp, which activates only when extra power or traction is needed.
Battery options include:
-
A 58 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) pack for affordability and durability
-
An 85 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery for extended range
Mercedes claims the CLA EV will offer an impressive driving range of over 750 km on a single charge (WLTP estimated).
Internal Combustion Variants
For buyers preferring traditional engines, the new CLA will be offered with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, available in three output levels:
-
134 bhp
-
161 bhp
-
188 bhp
These ICE models will come standard with front-wheel drive, while 4MATIC all-wheel drive will be offered as an option. A newly developed 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) with integrated mild-hybrid assistance (boosting power by up to 27 bhp briefly) will handle power delivery.
In Summary
With its stylish design, futuristic interior tech, dual powertrain options, and long-range EV capabilities, the 2025 Mercedes-Benz CLA is set to redefine the entry-point into the brand’s luxury lineup. Whether electric or petrol-powered, the new CLA promises to deliver on performance, efficiency, and innovation.
